You’re Not Good Enough Book Tag

This tag was created by ReadLikeWildfire and Beccathebookreviewer, and I found it on DreamlandBookBlog!

The purpose of the tag is to write down 30 book character names on pieces of paper, and randomly pick two for every question. You then have to decide which character best fits the question or situation, and which character isn’t ‘good enough’. This seemed like such a fun idea for a tag, so I hope you enjoy!

1) You only have one more spot on your Spelling Bee team – who would you pick to complete your team?

wp-1489328492096.jpg

Dekka Talent (GONE series) or Doctor John Watson (Sherlock Holmes)

Hmm…this is a toughie to start on. Dekka is very sensible and logical , which I feel may be good if she was trying to work out some of the harder words; however, I’m not entirely sure how intellectually smart she is. Whilst Doctor Watson is arguably not the best writer in the world, he does surround himself with words regularly, so I think he may be the most suitable choice!

2) Both characters want to kill you – which one would you kill first so you have a better chance of surviving?

wp-1489328503401.jpg

Éponine Thénardier (Les Misérables) or Brian Jackson (Starter for Ten)

I feel like both characters here are ones who are quiet and reserved on the surface, but could become very lethal very quickly. However, I feel like me and Éponine would be friends in an alternate universe and she would probably be easier to talk around. In addition, I would hate to be around Brian Jackson when he’s in a bad mood, let alone a murderous one, so I’d have to kill him first!

3) You’re on the bachelor/bachelorette and you’re down to these two characters – which one are you going to give your rose to?

wp-1489328601451.jpg

Inspector Javert (Les Misérables) or Elle Woods (Legally Blonde)

Honestly, just picking out this pair of characters gave me a good giggle – could you imagine these two meeting?! The answer here is extremely easy. Whilst I admit I do have a soft spot for Javert – especially since Russell Crowe’s portrayal in the 2012 film – my heart undoubtedly belongs to Elle Woods. She’s such a determined yet fun-loving woman!

4) You’ve been chosen for The Hunger Games – who would most likely volunteer in your place?

wp-1489328607519.jpg

Enjolras (Les Misérables) or Catherine Earnshaw (Wuthering Heights)

Another easy one! I cannot imagine a world in which Catherine would volunteer for anybody given how self-obsessed she is. Enjolras would undoubtedly want to come across the hero of the situation, and whilst I would hate to see him in the arena (he is one of my favourite characters in Les Mis), I reckon he would have a good shot at winning the damn thing.

5) You’re stranded on an island. Which character would you sacrifice to engage in cannibalism?

wp-1489328622742.jpg

Elizabeth Bennet (Pride and Prejudice) or Haymitch Abernathy (The Hunger Games)

Oh gosh. This is hard – I love both characters! Haymitch would undoubtedly be the most irritable of the two, but I feel like he would have suitable skills for being stranded on an island. However, Elizabeth is also a smart cookie and I feel like we would get on a LOT better, so I would regretfully have to sacrifice Haymitch.

6) You’re the next DC/Marvel superhero (with your own TV show, of course) – who is your sidekick?

wp-1489328628975.jpg

Tiny Cooper (Will Grayson, Will Grayson) or Sherlock Holmes (Sherlock Holmes)

Really? REALLY?! Both of these characters are complete drama queens who LOVE the centre of attention. There is absolutely no way that either of them would agree to be my sidekick, but if I had to choose, Tiny Cooper would certainly be less irritable than Sherlock Holmes.

7) You’re a manager of an Avocado admiring company – who would you fire for lack of communication skills?

wp-1489328635118.jpg

Marius Pontmercy (Les Misérables) or Finnick Odair (The Hunger Games)

Hmm…Marius Pontmercy would most definitely be far too distracted by the thought of Cosette to concentrate on any work. However, his communication skills would be a lot better than Finnick Odair‘s, who would just flirt with everybody possible and never achieve anything!

8) You’ve just finished a book in which your favourite character dies – which character is most likely to comfort you?

wp-1489328758073.jpg

Leo Denton (The Art of Being Normal) or Caine Soren (GONE series)

Whilst he is occasionally portrayed as cold and reserved, there is no debate that Leo Denton would be the most comforting in this situation – he’s a softy at heart! Caine is so self-obsessed that he wouldn’t even notice I was upset!

9) Ugh, it’s high school. Who would most likely be part of the popular clique?

wp-1489328646836.jpg

Evie Crane (The Spinster Club series) or Sam Temple (GONE series)

This is a funny one as both characters are in high school, making this very, very easy. Evie, being a little eccentric yet reserved, would never be part of a stereotypical popular clique (although you could argue her FemSoc group becomes quite popular). Given Sam Temple‘s reputation in school as being a hero, he is indubitably the popular type!

10) The day has arrived; you’re finally a year older! Who would have the nerve to forget your birthday?

wp-1489328652005.jpg

Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games) or Cedric Diggory (Harry Potter)

Given that Cedric Diggory is one of my favourite characters in Harry Potter, I would fervently wish that he would remember my birthday – heart eyes emoji, am I right? And besides, Katniss Everdeen would be far too busy planning the rebellion and being the Mockingjay to remember something so trivial!

11) You’ve just found an upcoming BookTube star. Who would it most likely be?

wp-1489328797729.jpg

Jane Eyre (Jane Eyre) or Effie Trinket (The Hunger Games)

Is this the easiest question of them all so far?! Effie Trinket has probably never read a book in her life! I can completely imagine Jane Eyre being a BookTuber…she would begin every video with “Reader, …”…I WANT THIS SO BADLY!

12) Sleepover time! Unfortunately you can only invite one person – who would you invite?

wp-1489328804478.jpg

Edward Rochester (Jane Eyre) or Johanna Mason (The Hunger Games)

Ooh, ‘ello. As much as I love Mr Rochester, I don’t think he would be very good sleepover material. Having said that, Johanna Mason probably wouldn’t be up for it either, but I feel like once she was there we’d have a whale of a time.

13) Bam, you’re pregnant. Who’s the parent?

wp-1489328809712.jpg

Evie Snow (On The Other Side) or Lottie Thomas (The Spinster Club series)

?!?!?!?!?!?! Really?! But I love BOTH of these ladies?! And both would be excellent mothers! Evie Snow would be the perfect mumsy-mum, but at 27 she is probably a bit too old for me. Lottie Thomas would be incredibly badass and protective, and she has ALL the right morals, so I would be more than happy with that result!

14) You’ve just written a super important text. Who would see it, but not reply?

wp-1489328826373.jpg

Patrick Watts (Starter for Ten) or Gaia (GONE series)

Oh, now THIS is an easy one. Gaia would undoubtedly read any text (particularly an important one) in order to gain as much information as possible to be evil! Patrick Watts, on the other hand, has such a level of pettiness that this sort of behaviour is right up his street – I wouldn’t expect anything less!

15) You’ve just woken up and it’s time for breakfast. Your mum or dad’s been replaced by…who?!

wp-1489328838094.jpg

Vincent Winters (On The Other Side) or Bilbo Baggins (The Hobbit)

We’re ending on another easy one, folks! As much as I love Vincent Winters, I cannot think of anything better than to have Bilbo Baggins as my dad. All that comfort! All that food! What a content life that would be…

And that wraps up the You’re Not Good Enough book tag. This is possibly the most fun I’ve had writing a blog post, and I would love to do more like this in the future! I tag:

  1. Fun tag! This is really beautiful! Éponine is such a powerful and complex character. I was thinking of doing an aerial silks performance to the song On My Own, because I love the pace and the tune of the song. Your writing was great for helping me try to “get into her shoes” and think about how her experiences have shaped her. If you could describe Éponine using three words, what would they be? 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

    1. Oh wow, that sounds amazing!! If I had to describe Éponine in three words they would probably be selfless, impassioned, and valiant. Her character is one of my favourites! I’m glad you enjoyed the post ☺
